Three days in Medellín covers Comuna 13, the cable cars, Provenza dining and one big night. Five days adds Guatapé and a coffee farm. Seven days lets you slow down, add paragliding or a spa day, and still keep an afternoon free for nothing at all.
Three days, the essentials
Tight but not rushed if you keep a driver and start early.
- Day 1: land, settle in Poblado, walk Provenza, easy dinner, one rooftop. Nothing ambitious.
- Day 2: Comuna 13 at 9am with a local guide, lunch in Laureles, Metrocable in the late afternoon, big dinner and a night out.
- Day 3: coffee farm morning in the hills, back for a spa hour, sunset drinks, final dinner.
Five days, the version most people should book
Same first three days, then two that change the trip.
- Day 4: Guatapé. Leave at 7:30am, climb the rock before the heat, lunch on the water, boat hour, back by early evening.
- Day 5: slow morning, brunch in Laureles, paragliding or Parque Arví, private chef dinner at the apartment instead of another restaurant.
Seven days, the one people extend
With a week you stop being a visitor and start living here for a bit, which is when Medellín really gets good.
- Day 6: thermal springs at Santa Rosa or a day at a country club, long lunch, quiet night.
- Day 7: football at the Atanasio if there is a match, otherwise a lake day on the reservoir, then a proper closing dinner and rooftop.
Timing rules that save the trip
Medellín traffic is real and the afternoon rain is punctual. Build around both.
- Anything outside the city leaves before 8am. After that you lose an hour to traffic each way.
- Rain usually lands between 3pm and 6pm and passes. Keep that window for lunch, a spa or the pool.
- Restaurants fill Thursday through Saturday. Reserve before you fly, not the day of.
- Sundays are slower and some kitchens close. Good day for Guatapé or coffee country.
