Clear river running through the marble canyon at Río Claro, Antioquia
Medellín Tours · Nature & Day Trips

Río Claro Nature Reserve Day Trip

A marble canyon with water so clear you can count stones on the bottom, three hours east.

Overview

Río Claro runs through marble, which is why the water is that impossible colour and why the canyon walls look polished. You float sections of it, swim in the deep pools and walk into the Caverna de los Guácharos if the group is up for it.

It works as a long day or, better, an overnight at one of the open-walled jungle lodges. We can arrange either.

Frequently asked

Questions about this experience

Honest answers to the questions we hear most. If yours isn't here, ask us directly and we'll come back the same day.

Is it better as an overnight?

Yes, if you have the time. The lodges are simple and beautiful and the mornings are the best part.

Do I need to be a strong swimmer?

No, life vests are used for the river sections.

How bad is the cave?

Wet, dark and full of birds. Skippable if that is not your thing.
